sales of live hens bans in South Africa


South Africa has banned the sale of live hens countrywide in a bid to control an outbreak of highly contagious H5N8 bird flu which was confirmed at a farm in Mpumalanga, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced Sunday.
‘’We have placed a general ban on the sale of live hens across the country until further notice,’’ department spokesperson Bomikazi Molapo said.
This was after a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N8 was confirmed in a broiler breeder site in Mpumalanga on Thursday, June 22.

REVEAL: kidnapper Evans reveals the identity of his gun supplier


Security agencies in Bayelsa State have started an investigation into the identity of a man named Suoyo whom Evans the Kidnapper mentioned as one of his gang members in the state.
In one of his numerous confessional statements, Evans the kidnapper said Suoyo is one of the most active members of his gang, who had the job of buying arms and ammunition, for their operations. 
He said:
“When Suoyo, who lives in Bayelsa State, called me and expressed fears, I also assured him that nothing was going to happen. I told him I was making plans for another operation and needed him to go into the creeks and buy a new set of arms and ammunition”.

For the first time in two decades, the White House did not host a Ramadan dinner


Instead, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania released a statement on Saturday wishing "warm greetings" to those celebrating Eid al-Fitr. The statement partly reads, 'muslims in the United States joined those around the world during the holy month of Ramadan to focus on acts of faith and charity. 
Breaking with tradition, the White House under President Donald Trump did not host an iftar dinner, the meal Muslims eat to break their daily fast during Ramadan.
The dinner, which has been often attended by prominent members of the U.S. Muslim community, began in 1996 during former President Bill Clinton’s White House tenure and continued throughout George W. Bush Jr . and Barack Obama's administrations.

Catholic Bishop refuses to give gay people last rites unless they repent


Even though Pope Francis has repeatedly said he believes in treating gay people with dignity and compassion, one Catholic Illinois Bishop Thomas Paprocki, apparently disagrees with him. Bishop Paprocki has issued a decree asking priests to deny gay people several religious offerings like the holy communion.
The decree, which isn't public yet but was sent to staff, instructed priests not to give gay couples communion or their last rites until they repent for their relationship.

Female Security officer killed as three suicide bombers attack University of Maiduguri


3 suicide bombers last night attacked the University of Maiduguri campus, killing a female security officer as well as themselves. Three other persons were injured in the attack.

The school has suffered a series of attacks since the first suicide attack carried out on January 16th.

To refute media claims that he is currently suffering from speech impairment, the Presidency today released a voice recording from President Buhari with a message to Nigerians. There were speculations in the media last week that President Buhari might have lost his speech due to his failing health.

To refute media claims that he is currently suffering speech impairment, the presidency today released an audio message of President Buhari to some radio stations including BBC.

Notorious cult gang, Badoo hack couple to death in area of Ikorodu



Notorious cult group, Badoo, on Friday, struck again, killing a couple at the Idioro area of Ogijo, Ikorodu town in Lagos. This would be the umpteenth time the cult members have carried out attacks on residents of the town. According to reports , the battered remains of the couple was found on Friday after a neighbor raised an alarm. 
The said neighbor had given the couple her phone to charge in their home situated in an uncompleted building on Thursday June 22nd.

Catholic Relief: 98% of women in Ghana get pregnant by accident


The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Ghana has disclosed that about 98 percent of women between the ages of 15 to 49 get pregnant by accident.
According to a representative of CRS, Kris Ozar, he said lack of inadequate support from husbands and also perceived fear of the side effects associated with the use of modern contraception had been some of the causes of the unplanned pregnancies.
He disclosed this during a recent dissemination workshop on Strengthening Marriages and Relationships through Planning and Communications (SMART) couple and Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) project in Tamale.

DSS uncovers plot by terrorists to attack Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, others during Sallah celebration



The State Security Service on Friday, said it arrested suspected terrorists planning to launch coordinated attacks in Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri, others, during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Spokesperson for the service, Tony Opuiyo, who made the disclosure in Abuja, said two suspects identified as Yusuf Adamu and Abdulmuminu Haladu were arrested in Sokoto in connection with the plot in the early hours of Friday.

Opuiyo, who was represented by Mr Nnanna Nnochiri, Opuiyo said the service had earlier arrested Bashir Mohammed, the facilitator of the Kano attack on June 20 at Unguwar Barnawa, Kaduna. One Shekarau Madaki was also arrested at Kumbatso Local Government Area of Kano State.
Opuiyo said that their plan, together with some currently at large, was to assemble explosives and use them on selected targets during the sallah celebration. The targets of the terrorists were markets, public parks, public processions, recreation centres and Eid grounds.
Items recovered from Mohammed ‘s house includes eight AK 47 rifles, 20 Ak 47 loaded magazines, 27 hand grenades, 793 rounds of live ammunition, one gas cylinder, three laptops, one Lifan motorcycle, one Honda Civic car and one printer.

President of Tanzania ban teenage mothers from going back to school

Tanzania’s President John Magufuli has placed a ban restricting school girls who get impregnated from going back to school. The President made this known while addressing Bagamoyo District residents during his three-day-tour of Coast Region on Thursday.
Magufuli accused some of the nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), which have been urging the Tanzanian government to allow teen mothers back to school, of being used by foreign agents.
“There are many things that girls, who are impregnated can do after delivery; they can join VETA (Vocational Education Training Authority centres), they can learn sewing but they can’t go back to school,” said President Magufuli.

Judge Nathanial Berkson, who put Dobson in jail, for two years and eight months,said he was disgusted to think that child-like sex dolls exist and can be ordered online and delivered anywhere in the world.

He pleaded guilty to importing an indecent object, two charges of making indecent images of children and one of possessing indecent images of children.

In his letter which he delivered to the state's Director of Administration, Ministry of Information, Tam-George thanked the state governor, Nesom Wike, for the opportunity to serve in his government.
